Help

How can we help?

First the answers customers ask for, then what you need to know to run a shop on Oktapus.

You are a customer

You collect stamps at a shop that uses Oktapus. Here are the questions that come up most often.

Getting a stamp

At the counter, open the Stamp tab of the Oktapus app. If the shop has a contactless card, bring your phone close to the card: the stamp lands. Otherwise, show the code on screen, and the merchant scans it with their app. That code changes every thirty seconds and serves only once. You have nothing to scan yourself. The poster in the window is a different thing: it enrols you at the shop, it does not give a stamp.

Finding your cards again

Your cards belong to your account, not to your phone. After changing device or reinstalling, sign in with the same email address, or with Apple or Google if that is what you chose: everything comes back. Stamps collected before you created an account stay on that device and join your account the first time you sign in.

The reward on a full card

A full card does not empty itself and does not expire. The reward is handed to you on your next stamp: that stamp uses up the full card, the merchant gives you what it promises, and a new card opens with that stamp already on it. So you never lose a visit.

Deleting your account, taking your data

From the app: Profile, then Delete my account. Without the app: the deletion page, which asks for your address and a six digit code. Either way you see what deletion takes with it before you confirm, you can have a copy of your data emailed to you, and you keep thirty days to change your mind.

Without the app

The Oktapus app remains the simplest: it shows your code even without a network and can let you know when a reward is waiting. If you would rather not install it, open oktapus.app/client in your phone's browser and sign in with the six digit code received by email. You will find your cards there and, at the counter, the code to show the merchant. On the site, an account is required from the first stamp and the code needs a network. The contactless card, notifications, Discovery and the contest stay in the app.

You are a merchant

Opening your shop, printing your poster, running the counter and understanding what your customers see of you.

Getting started

Opening your shop, choosing what the card gives, printing the poster and installing Oktapus Pro at the counter.

The counter

The customer shows their code in the Stamp tab, you scan it with Oktapus Pro, and a code is worth one stamp only. No network: Oktapus Pro keeps the stamp and sends it when the connection is back. The same customer receives at most three stamps in ten minutes, or the number you chose in Oktapus Pro.

Plans and invoices

The free plan, its ceiling of 100 customers, and what the 14.90 € plan will add the day the contactless card ships.

Data and security

Hosting in the European Union, GDPR, what the shop sees of its customers and what it does not.

Scanning without Oktapus Pro

Oktapus Pro remains the most comfortable way at the counter. On a phone where it is not installed, open oktapus.app/pro/scanner in the browser, sign in with the six digit code received by email, and allow the camera when the browser asks. Aim at the customer's code: the stamp lands as it does in the app, under the name of whoever scanned. If you refused the camera, allow it again in the site settings, from the address bar, then reload the page. The site's scanner keeps nothing offline: no network, no stamp.
